Dating back to Round One of the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the LA Kings have absolutely owned the Vancouver Canucks.
Yes, the Canucks have had difficulty with all of the California based teams in recent years, but the LA Kings it seems, have proved to be kryptonite to the Canucks Superman
impersonation. This season, it seems, the Canucks have, at least somewhat, solved the other two Golden State teams getting victories against the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks. The Kings, however, are another matter entirely. They have just one win against them in the last 10 games and 3 in the last 25. This is further exacerbated by the fact that the Canucks now find themselves in a battle against these same Kings for a playoff spot, and with teo games against them left in the season, the Canucks better find a way to build an immunity to kryptonite... and FAST. Like, faster-than-a-speeding-bullet FAST.
If the Canucks do manage to find their way into the playoffs, there is a very good chance that they will be facing the Kings in the first round. So, it becomes quite clear that the LA Kings, Stanley Cup Champions 2 of the last 3 seasons, are the biggest obstacle facing the Canucks and one they must overcome if they wish to have any success this season.
We'll know a lot more about the Canucks and their playoff chances tomorow afternoon when they face the Kings in Los Angeles at the Staples Centre.
